  • Systemic changes

Nowadays Albania is undergoing a disturbing unregulated rapid urbanization, cities’ densification is rising and construction sites are popping everyday in different neighborhoods. As a consequence the city is overlaying the post-communist era with a compulsive and uncontrolled construction process and people are experiencing a drastic reduction of vital public spaces, with severe consequences on their life quality.
The project proposes a reaction versus this chaotic transformation of the main cities in order to accommodate the needs of the citizens. As its focus, the concept proposal aims to regenerate invaded public spaces to make them accessible again. Through the analysis of the structure of singular units within a Neighborhood, we can establish a functional system: people-buildings-nature-mobility on which to design a very specific eco-system for the neighborhood.

The growth of car users and lack of parking spaces in the city leads to chaotic sporadic solutions, invading common public spaces which are fundamental in the life quality of a Neighborhood.

A well-designed plan which takes into account the basic needs of a city may contribute into regaining our public spaces and drastically improve our lifestyle.

Identifying the utilization diversity and functionality of key elements for a sustainable living, is an important step toward the transformation of those urban gaps within Neighborhoods.

Depending on the size, shape and specific needs of the neighborhood space, we can compose different elements which will transform common spaces into premises for all ages and interests.

These interventions will provide beneficial livelihood transformation to concerned communities, while the city will upgrade its appearance and functionality, followed by a noticeable environmental improved impact.
