Reshaping European cities by bringing back a lost Identity

Maritime Landscape Path in Szczecin, Poland

Reshaping European cities by bringing back a lost Identity

Maritime Landscape Path in Szczecin, Poland
Combining a bottom-up and Innovative approach, both rooted on the existing environmental and urban context.
File under

My proposal is developed on an area of the city of Szczecin, city that has gone through a dense series of historical events. It represents all those European cities, going through a transitional phase and suffering from a psychosis of a lack of Identity. Therefore my proposal for Szczecin would serve as a case-study for this general strategy that could be implemented for all of them, dealing with the same condition.
In my strategy I focus on migliorating the existing heavy infrastructure in the area, bringing back the water identity to the city through creating the 'Maritime Path' as a series of spaces related to water activities, re- bringing the once existing greenway identity of the river lagoon. At the same time combining social and environmental engineering in re-using the existing structures for small economies and implementing a system of water purification through Constructed wetlands as the most innovative and endangered habitats.

Main master plan of the Maritime Landscape path strategy

Layering of the different elements of the master plan. Boat's decks analogy and Foucault's heterotopic spaces. Three spaces representations.

Water Research Center on a constructed wetland environment. Atmosphere Representation.

Small-medium production spaces(workshops) .Implementation on the existing urban context. Readaptation atmosphere. Set of architectural tools used.
