Marvels and catastrophes
- Site-specific cases
Marvels and Catastrophes explores the intersection between space, memory and design as a window through which critically analyze architecture and vice versa. Through a multidisciplinary, pragmatic and speculative approach, we investigate new ways of understanding a context by collecting objects, stories and narratives. Through a series of participatory workshops we revealalternative history and understanding, multi-faceted analysis of the build environment lead to re-imagining future architecture away from dominant discourses.
We consider all environments as equal, refuse the opposition between rural and urban, and approach them in the same holistic way. We experiment with a broad combination of techniques, such as field recordings, scanning, collecting and wandering, with the aim to find new synergies.
Confronted with new contexts and situations, the outcomes of such a practice are diverse: floating lexicon, living archives, site explorations, somatic mapping, talks, games etc.
