The Architect as Revolutionist
The Architect as Revolutionist
What is the future role of an architect, in a time where architecture is no longer a cultural force, but entirely taken over by economics?
The architect as visionary?
The architect as maker?
The architect as curator?
The architect as moderator?
The architect as servant?
Instead of creating yet another image that won’t find its way into reality, we want to analyse the disruptive factors which turn ambitious visions into the bleakly built reality of today. This proposal suggests a radical view on education, precarious working conditions, overwhelming regulations, global investment schemes, and self-centered relationships. All these are shaping our cities and environments more than architects are aware of. Even more it is time to fight for a new set of tools, accomplices and subversive strategies. It is time to start changing something in the way we work and think. Maybe it is time to reveal the architect as revolutionist.
