Prometheus' house

A taxonomy of the architectural guidelines and morphological structures of the Caucasian area

Prometheus' house

A taxonomy of the architectural guidelines and morphological structures of the Caucasian area
A set of lectures that discuss the theme of the home in its original context
File under
Type of project
  • Site-specific cases

The proposal deals with the theme of architectural heritage in the countries of the
Caucasus and its declination, in an identity key, in the recent urban transformations that are altering the formative processes of the fabric. Whether the road taken by Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, etc has proved to be a "peaceful" continuation of the architectural guidelines imposed by the Soviet planner, and that urban choices have entailed tortuous paths the shaping role of architecture is, in most cases, still visible today in the recurrent use of "topoi". These paradigmatic elements of the built landscape are characterized as generators of forms of memory and collective spatiality that can be traced back to large identity systems. The search for these "identities", between successes and failures, represents the boundary between the compositional chaos and the typological order of architecture.
