  • New alliances

Architecture needs more critical reflection. At www.fromscratch.work Violette Schönberger publishes thought-provoking essays that go in depth about architecture theory and to evoke readers to develop new thoughts about space, urban conditions, design. Articles are interesting to both architects and non-professionals; they're never vague or unnecessarily theoretical, yet always well informed by literature.

For the essay 'Paradijs van imperfectie' ('Paradise of imperfection') Violette was awarded the Geert Bekaert-Prize for Architecture Criticism 2019 in the Netherlands.

The broader impact of fromscratch.work would be an international collaboration with other writers, image makers or publishers, to create a renewed position for critical reflection on architecture and to explore new forms of sharing this written content by means of podcasts, spoken columns, video, (...?)

Until this far, .fromscratch has been publishing in Dutch. The ambition is to translate to English soon.
