Internet, Chile
“Assembramenti” is currently carried out by Federico Bettazzi, Michele Brusutti, Giovanni Casalini, Serena Dambrosio, Chiara Davino, Marco Felicioni and Lorenza Villani. We are all dedicated to architecture in different ways and more generally engaged to critical research on space. We are all Italians but spread out in different regions of the world (Italy, Portugal, Chile). The project is self-financed and developed in parallel with our own professional and personal activities and interests.

Healing from social distance
A digital community addressing critical spatial debates during times of overlapping crises

Type of project
  • New alliances

Assembramenti is a community created in April 2020 by a group of people working on spatial research and practices.
Assembramenti also happens to be the Italian term which is currently used by Italian institutions to criminalize unauthorized gatherings; we have inverted its meaning creating a digital platform to push debate and sharing, in the sphere of 'onlife', accentuated during the pandemic.
Assembramenti links various networks to fill the gap between academic debate and design production, defining an ever-changing community, resisting a specific form or output, questioning architecture as a cultural and processual phenomenon, on the backdrop of overlapping crises.
Assembramenti speaks Italian to react against cultural homogenization and imagine an emancipated globalization based on exacerbated local differences.
Assembramenti participates to Future Architecture's call to open its community and debate around socio-spatial topics to other communities and cultural geographies.

Overlapping crises and anti-cov measures
