Dismissing Koolhaas' idea that architecture consists of elements

Ranking a particular element of architecture like stairs highest in the hierarchy, when building a house results in the opposite of what you might expect. Instead of becoming the ultimate disciplinary method, it transforms into a way of thinking about functions that a house provides. With this approach the stairs become the floor shaping the living environment. This dismisses the idea of architectural templates when designing living spaces.
