How To Avoid To Enjoy Problems Alone?

Site-specific projects investigating the very basic elements, tools, and theories of architecture together
It is a collaborative project series that we started to investigate the very basic elements, tools, and theories of architecture in collaboration but with the power of self-confident creativity.

We started our collaborative project series two years ago with the financial support of the city of Veszprém, Hungary and the Veszprém ECoC 2023 team. The aim of this series to get together talented, young and emerging European and Transatlantic architects around site specific projects that are investigating the very basic elements, tools, and theories of architecture and create enjoyable environments at certain parts of Veszprém that are underestimated or abandoned. We imagine these projects as the representation of a post-crisis architectural habit that after defensive and self-torturing years can be confident again to produce quality architecture for the future with the help of simple and only architectural thinking.

As we are architects at Paradigma Ariadné, we are not only organizers of these exhibitions and experimental projects, but also collaborators of them which is representing boldly that we only wanted to avoid to enjoy some architectural problems alone.

"There are several urban elements that are missing from Haszkovó housing estate. We chose one of these elements, namely the ruins. These elements are the physical evidences for the appreciation of the past, which will not be demolished in the course of infrastructural improvements, and which are old enough to enjoy the privilege of having a whole city conforming to them instead of conforming to the city themselves." - Paradigma Ariadné

"This piece in Veszprém aims to be a fragment of a much larger structure – the pinnacle of a Venetian bell tower meeting the extravagant geometry of an early New York skyscrapers crown – just a hint at a submerged world below." - Edward Crooks

"Ornament is not an added extra. It is not the surface. It is the very substance of our sensual engagement with any and all surroundings that have been made by the hands of (wo)man. Without it we are bereft, without it we are left hungry, and entirely alone." - Adam Nathaniel Furman

"If the goal of ornamentation and decoration is to add a new appeal to something, in this case the existing unadorned interior wall, the ambition of Instant Elevation is to paint an exterior elevation of a building on an interior elevation of a building." - Andrew Kovacs

"The room presents itself as a human face, clearly stating its friendly nature and quite literally acting as a ‘friend’ that is always there, willing to meet." - Point Supreme
