The philosophy looks potentials, local-engagement, contexts as gearing towards Filipino identity. MONUMENT + Film Archives Museum

MONUMENT + Film Archives Museum

Monument is preserving our rich cultural heritage and giving it an adaptive re-use.

Type of project
  • Site-specific cases

The project was incubated by histories of the 80-year old house which was location of iconic movies. We believe preservation of historical buildings and giving a new purpose–there is screening room that is nostalgic as if watching film on top of roof where your kiddie fantasies come true. The rich heritage & preservation is something we believe valuable–new typology merging residential units to existing heritage sites. Since the area is a film hub similar to Hollywood preserving house giving back to public as a living artifact it will be converted into Film Archives Museum focusing on 100 years of Philippine cinema. The concept building is like frame within a frame acts as scaffolding so there are no unnecessary columns in the units. Vertical garden become oxygen for the city. This unique project is how we should develop our cities by preserving cultural heritage and giving it a new meaning with sensuality.
