smartLOVE

Romance in the age of connected things
The love story between two autonomous technologies: a smart building and a networked highway
File under
Type of project
  • Systemic changes

Concepts like Ambient Computing or IoT are transforming people into users and cities into interfaces. Digital functionalities will go beyond our devices unfolding new forms of interaction: performative and ubiquitous surrounded by smart and connected environments.
Buildings are becoming animated characters with the capacity to see, hear and feel us offering an architecture as-a-service. A good design practice will evolve an architecture of control into spaces that take care of us and our wellbeing. In a future where infrastructures are autonomous and empathic, could we imagine a relationship between two of its components like the maximum expression of this hyper-connectivity?
Throughout history, romantic narrative has described relationships between people or between a man and his voice assistant. New generations might be prepared to empathize with a story of passion between a smart building and a connected highway, not only metaphorically but technologically operative.
