The inhabitants of future architecture are reinventing it as they reinvent themselves
A guide to surviving the harsh urban environment of the future

Type of project
  • Systemic changes

The global megalopolis of the future is no environment for the faint of heart. The majority of architectural attempts to systematically improve living conditions has failed and slums grow out of proportion while migration centres overflow. Idea projects are still being made, but the profession depends on the investments and is forced to comply with corporations and powerful lobbies. The planet is a vast urban wilderness of social housing, 20th Century ruins, historic theme parks, unfinished projects, urban wasteland, shopping malls and islands of luxury. In these conditions it is crucial to shift the focus from the architect to the user; to raise a utopian citizen in the midst of this spatial dystopia. User manual is a hypotetic project educating the users of tomorrow to reclaim their environment. Avoiding bureaucracy, relying highly on their own judgement while building strong sense of community, the inhabitants of future architecture are reinventing it as they reinvent themselves.
