Swallow

Community Night Club
To create a space that functions we must test it in real time, in real space and with a diverse group — a vernacular structure that is a reflection of the community — not a telescopic vision, but a kaleidoscopic & expanding vessel to grow and transform within.

Los Angeles nightlife is incoherent and inharmonious. To create a space that functions we must test it in real time, in real space and with a diverse group — a vernacular structure that is a reflection of the community — not a telescopic vision, but a kaleidoscopic & expanding vessel to grow and transform within. Moving vertically, the architectural energy mimics the contraction & expansion of control & freedom.

Swallow is a ground level bar with the energy of a mouth. Passage through its orifice brings you to a warm, hollow space.
Spiral is a dance club on the second floor with several balconies and a spinning dance floor. The motion is free and dizzying.
Swell is a lounge on the top story with views of the cityscape. Intimate alcoves offer space for intimacy and open exploration. Small stages and chairs populate the room.
Sub is a steam room and pool in the basement open to all bodies, all hours.
