Layered Architecture

Layered Architecture

Exploring the creative process of design through the different layers (meant as different disciplines participating in design) required to develop a building.
File under
Type of project
  • New alliances

Today architecture is presented mostly with images, focusing on the spatial outcome while the description of the evolution of the idea is often invisible. This narrative aims to show different approaches to design, and how they manage the increasing complexity of the process. The creative act requires the participation and the commitment of many specialists (structural, lighting eng.; landscape arch.; interior designers), a process which is often hidden to the public. The success of a project is directly related to the ability to coordinate the whole flow of data, enriching each iteration with more meanings. Showing all the layers of a design process, how they are intertwined, and how they contribute to the final outcome, will offer a fresh view on the many different forces behind a building.
The narrative aims to work as a collective writing through its different layers. These concept will also give space to new experimentation and empowerment of writing, supported by drawing.
