Cosmogrammatics

Cosmogrammatics

Cosmogrammatics is a podcast series that explores design as planetary praxis.

  • New alliances

Architecture has been called formative of both human and environment, complicit with neoliberalism and colonialism, yet transformative and re-directive – and while definitions usually focus on one of those aspects, it might be their simultaneity which requires attention. Planetary praxis suggests modes of investigation that bridge micro and macro scales, global narratives and situated perspectives. In conversation with practitioners from art, design, architecture, social sciences and humanities Cosmogrammatics inquires how to understand, describe and intervene in planetary design processes.
The discipline’s ‘becoming-planetary’ opens up exciting interdisciplinary crossings as well as opportunities to critically reflect on its entanglements with social, material, economic and political forces.
Cosmogrammatics will be launched in January 2021 and feature monthly episodes.

How can the totalising perspective of technology be fused with situated knowledges? A conversation with filmmaker Misho Antadze about his latest work “The Harvest”.

How can place become activated beyond representation? A conversation with Polina Medvedeva about the audio-visual performance “The Informals”.

How can anthropological filmmaking help to rethink speculative design? A conversation with Solveig Suess about her practice “Geocinema”.
