Overcoming the connection between domestic and home, this research explores one of the many declinations of meaning of the word domestic.
If we are looking for what is most domestic, we come to what is common to many people. So we identify as domestic those characteristics of the urban landscape that all its inhabitants recognize: there is a principle of identity in them. They are the repository of images, sensations, materials, and imaginations. Manifestations that are often minute, silent, sometimes immaterial, barely perceptible yet always solidly present.
They are expressions that inevitably relate the scale of the elements of detail to the geographical scale, because they are all intimately connected to the climate, the structure of the territory, the way of settling there. They are the story of a type of light and temperature, of vegetation and matter, of smells and sounds, of material shapes and textures, of atmospheres.
They are a story that speaks in the plural.
