On the Surface

Unmediated Architecture
The Surface as the last interface between nature and culture.
File under

In the contemporary, art and science share the same problem: eliminate as much as possible devices of mediation to experience the potential of easier and more natural interaction. Tactile interfaces, nanotechnology and artistic experiments, expressing the tendency to fusion of the physical and virtual: within nature and culture?

The Surface appears to be the channel where the changes taking place. It emerges a new concept of materiality that turns relations among us, objects and physical space.
The hypothesis outlined, addresses the architectural discourse trying to record the transition from a state of architecture as interface manifold - hierarchical system of scale and made efforts to simplify the issues, or choices that become a method - , an approach that consider, instead, the superficial and extensive character that the architecture expressed in the encounter with reality, enabling its transformation.
