We’re 3 colleagues passionate about cities and their dynamics. We met each other while studying our Masters Degree in Urban Planning and Sustainability in Barcelona, since then, we’ve been working together developing projects aimed to improve sustainable strategies, housing and climate change. Architecture brought us together, and with it, the passion to improve people’s quality of life, working with the tools that urbanism gives us to generate inclusive, diverse, sustainable and equal cities.

Mixed Feelings

Humanizing urban interventions through emotions
Reactivation of urban spaces in the post pandemic cities.

Type of project
  • Systemic changes

From a survey that reached almost 200 citizens from all over the world, we were able to design this project. By formulating simple questions, we could identify what was happening to people.
Words like "anxiety", "fear" and "tranquility" were among the most repeated when defining feelings. On the other hand, "urban green", "recreation areas" and "night lighting" were those needs that the respondents identified with.
So, an intervention based on colors and morphology, is proposed. Green, yellow and blue are the colors that will be used. These respond to the emotions that the respondents described. From hexagonal, triangular or trapezoidal pieces made in these colors, infinite combinations can be done. These elements, made from recycled plastic, can have different uses. Always with the aim of reactivating public spaces, guaranteeing physical distance, offering people the possibility of regaining confidence in their cities and preparing them to a new reality, now and for the future.
