The Visitaïres from the Future
The Visitaïres from the Future
- Site-specific cases
In an experimentation in time travel we will explore different urban imaginations are written into urban environments and inflect on their future. “The Vistaïres from the Future”, is a reference to the role we will take on as two ambassadors from the year 3020 who visit the neighborhood to investigate human beings’ life in cities with their inhabitants. We will invite residents to a cycle of workshops, in which we will write and draw La Chapelle in a thousand years’ time. The stories and images drawn from these workshops will fuel the collective creation of urban models representing different possible futures for the neighborhood. In order to create dialogue between these possible futures and the present we will also conduct a documentary investigation into how different communities and actors coinhabit the same urban fabric. In particular, we will examine initiatives that seek to address basic needs of marginalized populations in conjunction with contextual artistic practices.
