'studio ASYNCHROME' is a transdisciplinary Think Tank founded by architects and artists Marleen Leitner and Michael Schitnig. ASYNCHROME focuses on the interfaces between Architecture, Urban Research and Art. The initial position is the assertion, that the utopia has to be understood neither as a failed plan nor as a building task. It rather serves as tool and method to work critically and artistically not doomed to failure, but as a way to change the world.

Call for ideas 2016

On the Tracks of Utopia

A narrative researching and rethinking of the contemporary utopian potentials

As architectural content carrier wins the Comic as 9th art, increasingly important - thankfully! We see the „Image poetry“ for our subjects and researches as a means of expression, to think about the interfaces and overlays of individual areas and and test out transgressions of limits . The Grapic Novel makes imaginary spaces experimentally come alive and tries the medium out to be used for theoretical texts.

The narrative thinking in todays neoliberal and image overloaded world offers through the Graphic Novel a possibility to find out the individual potentials of a city and enables access to the hidden layers behind the surfaces.

Especially today's focus on results has led to produce more and more images and solutions. But the utopia does not know the one an only solution. It should rather be understood as an approach that shows possibilities to get access to the more and more complex, faster trends of the present and to think subsequently on the future of this presence.

Utopia Now?

No Mans´s Spaces - Meeting of the modern simultaneity of unequal.

No Man´s Spaces - The graphic Novel as an artistical and architectural tool and method.

Price revisited - A normal day with Cedric.

Space is no longer just a property of the form, it is a property of human.
