Architecture and Contemporary Theory
Architecture and Contemporary Theory
- New alliances
The Architecture Exchange is a collaborative project between historian-theorist Joseph Bedford and architect Jessica Reynolds, dedicated to catalyzing intellectual exchange between architecture and contemporary theory. We propose a focused intellectual exchange, along the model of our previous exchanges, between leading thinkers and practitioners in European Architecture and one of today’s leading contemporary European theorists (Giorgio Agamben, Alain Badiou, Franco Berardi, Catherine Malabou, Jean-Luc Nancy, Peter Sloterdijk, Bernard Stiegler, or Slavoj Zizek). This exchange will aim to understand how the practice of architecture today can be reconsidered in light of new theoretical models of capitalism, subjectivity, technology, ideology and being. The public exchange event will be preceded by a five-day workshop among architects. It will be followed by interviews with the participants that will be documented in a new book series dedicated to architecture and contemporary theory.
