António Cruz Lopes, was born in Oporto in the summer of ’86. He did his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of Oporto University - FAUP , where he learned more than a half of what he knows. In 2015 he set up his own adventure right in Oporto City Centre and his practice goes from building refurbishments, shelters, to theoretical and conceptual projects. In meantime he also designs furniture.

Systemic changes

Nowadays in Architecture we live in an age lacking in time and truth.
A truthful Architecture needs Time to be developed. Like a soup, we can eat an instantaneous one that we bought in the supermarket and prepare it in two minutes or we can buy all the ingredients and spend one hour cooking it step by step. In the end we will have two similar soups but with two different flavours.
In a time of fast living we should practice a patient Architecture in order to recover reason and poetics for the future.
In the future, we will have to choose between an Architecture made with time, based in truth and suitable to our needs, or some quick solution with a good conceptual work but with poor options.
This project seeks to recall and show the role of the architect in the construction site, his construction knowhow as design ability and the importance of Time to develop in detail the whole project, exploring artificial and natural light, volume, structure details and relations between spaces.
