Following Future Environs
Following Future Environs
- New alliances
Uses a combination of empirical research, creative nonfiction and fictitious satire to examine the selected projects and promote their intent and nature in relation to the realm of intimate and paralyzing fear or discord of a future as hindered in the current symptoms and narratives of ecological disaster (through environmental destruction and resource exhaustion). The travel diaries aim to inscribe the selected projects in contemporary concerns and debates about the ulcerating conditions that endanger human environmental health by focusing on the role that each, as architectural solutions, play in relation to these conditions - local and globally. These are relations that have thus far been lacking proper representation in architecture history, theory and even practice. Following Future Environs contribution to the development of architecture addresses this gap. Infrastructure, blueprints, design and drawings are sites of transference but also means to build needed comfortable zones.
