Reading of the Ground of the Contemporary City
Reading of the Ground of the Contemporary City
The aim of this project is to explore the phenomenon of transparency regarding the phenomenological meaning of the city, i.e. the heterogeneous urban structure which the city has become. The importance of this issue arises from the fact that the city, as the most complex artifact, has permanently changed the ground on which it had grown - its structure can be regarded as the most representative example of a heterogeneous structure. The transformations of this heterogeneous urban structure shift the city into a new phase of interpretation of its phenomenological values, and increase the number of new elements for architectural communication. Leveling the transparency, the process will explain the impact of transparency through fragments of the city, trying to develop and identify new architectural typologies which can be introduced as a new element of communication, i.e. the active energy for becoming spaces.
