Temporary Structures

Temporary Structures

Domestic space as an environment for conceptual & material research.
File under
Type of project
  • Site-specific cases

Conceived as a testing ground for new methodologies of practice. ‘Temporary Structures’ explored domestic space as an environment for conceptual & material research during the first national lockdown in the summer of 2020.

Built from reclaimed/recycled materials close to hand, the project was designed to address spacial qualities of transition as a direct response to existing domestic conditions.

Formed from a series of screens, curtains & plinths, the installation momentarily transformed a residential apartment in Bermondsey, London. Forming a hybrid space that was both a home, workplace, & prototype for a future architecture that is adaptable to large scale social and environmental change.

20 m2, June 2020, Bermondsey, London.

Timber Batten, Roll Paper, Canvas, Brick, 18mm Ply, Climbing Rope, Rip-Tie, Bespoke LED Lighting
