What if urban life is within home walls? Oggetti Socievoli focus on discovered, rediscovered and reinterpreted objects in anyone’s home. Objects define and reshape home spaces and the use of its living units. During these months of social isolation, the easy access to our home objects reassure us that we are standing on a safe ground. At an intellectual level, the ‘new’ home activities replace prior activities that were taking place in urban areas.
Oggetti Socievoli received 100 submissions of Sociable Objects from more than 15 countries. Sharing small things, such as home objects, promote the idea that together people are going through a pandemic followed by a lockdown and build up a transitional sense of solidarity.
The book “The Season of home objects” showcases the participatory project and artisan’s production of home objects. Oggetti Socievoli was also joined by writers, designers, academics in a social study of home and objects in relation to people’s lockdown experiences.
