Stadtlücken
Stadtlücken
Urban spaces are often neglected by politicians and authorities and only developed with profit in mind. Consequently, public space is increasingly being sold off and privatized. But public space and the right and, therefore, the duty to design it’s architecture should remain an important part of our society. Spaces for communication, discussion, and for negotiating our shared existence must remain open to the public.
The Stuttgart metropolitan area offers hardly any spaces that are not commercialized, privatized, or dominated by traffic planning. But gaps can still be found. These places offer the people potential targets and opportunities to become active. STADTLÜCKEN encourages and guides this process using an overview of the whole city. The aim is to build awareness of the city and to seek out a common voice capable of making itself heard in the decisive sites across the city. The city belongs above all to its residents, and thus should be shaped with and for them.
