Call for ideas 2019

A Digital Habitat

Digital citizens, digital nomads & digital refugees

A Digital Habitat

Digital citizens, digital nomads & digital refugees
The creation of an environment with the appropriate conditions for human beings to live in a technologically dependent world.
File under
Type of project
  • Systemic changes

The present project is born from the changes observed in the city as a result of the normalization of telecommunication technologies. In a very short period, practically all human activities have been conditioned by technological advances that have allowed the incorporation of Internet into the daily life of the majority of the population, converting citizens into cybernauts.

Three different situations related to social and technological changes are analysed, each one linked to a specific profile:

1. the third environment and the digital citizen,
2. telecommuting and the digital nomad and
3. information overload and the digital refugee.

Behind each of these issues, a distinct pragmatic element is proposed, the result of which is a hybrid programme (a digital centre, a residence for digital nomads and a space for disconnection) to be implemented in the city.
