Planning and building methods
Planning and building methods
- New alliances
Who was first: The builder or the architect? Was it builders becoming architects, as they understood the process of the building or was it architects becoming builders when they sought for materials to build his immaterial thoughts? Usually, the construction plan is a kind of borderline between the architect and the craftsman, the point where the designer finishes and the builder starts his work. The base of the relationship of the builder is the manual work, the craft. We don't want to separate, but rather want to connect the persons included in this process. What kind of methods could help to understand their different roles in the architecture?
We would like to try to examine, summarise the relations of the architects and the builders in the planning and the building methods in an exhibition or as a publication, even lecture and workshop.
Our aim is to propose this kind of questions to architectural thinking.
