MAXXI Rome
YAP is promoting and supporting young architecture and is organized by MAXXI in collaboration with MoMA New York, Constructo of Santiago de Chile, Istanbul Modern and MMCA Seoul. This year for the first time ever, Future Architecture is also part of the programme. Each year YAP Young Architects Program offers an emerging designer or architectural practice the opportunity to create a temporary installation on the MAXXI piazza that will host the museum’s summer activities and offer the public shade, water and spaces in which to relax. A space that testifies to architectural research and innovation, attentive to the issues of sustainability, recycling and reuse and which emphasizes the public nature of the museum piazza.YAP is promoting and supporting young architecture and is organized by MAXXI in collaboration with MoMA New York, Constructo of Santiago de Chile, Istanbul Modern and MMCA Seoul. In 2018 for the first time ever, Future Architecture is also part of the programme. MAXXI opened the boundaries of YAP, usually addressed only to Italian architects, using FA open call as a tool for the identification of five creatives to invite to the program. Once selected, the five finalists were asked to propose a project for a temporary installation to host MAXXI’s summer program. An international jury chose the winning project - Green Gallery by STUDIOD3R with Marcello Fantuz, the ecological, eco-sustainable project favoring biodiversity and contrasting global warming -that was created on the MAXXI square to cheer and refresh visitors during the hot summer days. The exhibition of YAP Rome at MAXXI was presented in Sala Carlo Scarpa from 12 Jun to 9 Sep. It presented the program and the FA selection process, all five project proposals and the proposals of the five finalists selected at MoMA/PS1 and the past edition of YAP Constructo.
